An intricate appliqué can be completed as a unit on top of a piece of tissue paper; the tissue paper is then removed allowing the designer the freedom to audition the appliqué to its best advantage for a cohesive composition. Needle-turn appliqué with the invisible appliqué stitch is the sewing method that will be demonstrated. The weight of the tissue paper when removed does not loosen the appliqué stitches. For this class we will be working on a pansy design.
This method was first demonstrated by Frances Calhoun and is being taught with her written permission.
